FDP- Digital Twin Technology and its Role in Industrial Automation





The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering organised a Six-Day AICTE–ATAL Sponsored FDP on “Digital Twin Technology and its Role in Industrial Automation” from August 18 to 23, 2025. The programme aimed to equip faculty, researchers, and industry professionals with knowledge of Digital Twin Technology in the context of Industry 4.0. Sessions covered the fundamentals, architecture, and applications of Digital Twins in modern industrial systems. Experts emphasised the integration of physical systems with virtual models for real-time monitoring and intelligent control.
The workshop highlighted the role of Digital Twins in predictive maintenance, productivity enhancement, and data-driven decision-making. Participants gained exposure to simulation tools and analytics platforms used in industrial automation. The event fostered collaboration between academia and industry for innovation in smart manufacturing. Faculty members and research scholars from engineering institutions across India actively participated. Industry professionals shared practical insights and case studies from automation sectors. Postgraduate and undergraduate students with a keen interest in Industry 4.0 also attended. The workshop enhanced participants’ understanding of real-time data integration and process optimisation. Key research areas and innovation opportunities in Digital Twin applications were identified.
Networking among attendees and speakers opened doors for future collaborations. The sessions motivated faculty and researchers to explore advanced automation technologies. Overall, the FDP successfully bridged the gap between theoretical knowledge and industrial practice in Digital Twin Technology.
