TEDx talk - EV Trends: Why Experts Think the Future is Still Electric
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering organised a TEDx talk titled “EV Trends: Why Experts Think the Future is Still Electric” in association with the IEEE NHCE Student Branch and the IEEE Transportation Electrification Council for 8th Semester students on 28th March 2026. The session was delivered by industry expert Mr. Punith Goyal, who shared valuable insights into the evolving electric vehicle (EV) landscape.
Mr. Goyal highlighted the global shift from internal combustion engines to electric mobility and explained how technology, policy, and sustainability are driving this transition. The talk emphasised the rapid growth of the EV industry, fuelled by environmental priorities and government incentives. He discussed advancements in battery technology, charging infrastructure, and overall vehicle efficiency, and underlined the significant role EVs play in reducing carbon emissions and dependence on fossil fuels.
Challenges such as high battery costs, limited charging networks, and range anxiety were addressed, along with practical insights to mitigate them. The speaker also showcased India’s emerging leadership in EV innovation and manufacturing, inspiring students to see the country as a growing hub for sustainable mobility solutions.
The session encouraged active student participation, with questions on battery technologies, charging station development, and career opportunities in the EV sector. These discussions enabled students to connect academic concepts with real-world applications.
Key takeaways included the need for interdisciplinary skills in power electronics, control systems, and energy systems for contributing effectively to the EV industry. Overall, the TEDx Talk motivated students to explore opportunities in the rapidly expanding EV sector and understand their role in shaping the future of sustainable mobility.
