Inauguration of IEEE Power and Energy Society (PES) Student Branch Chapter
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, in association with the IEEE NHCE Student Branch, successfully inaugurated the IEEE Power and Energy Society (PES) Student Branch Chapter at New Horizon College of Engineering. The event was organised to introduce the newly established chapter and its office bearers, while encouraging students to pursue innovation, leadership, and technical excellence in the power and energy domain.
Faculty members and students attended the programme to gain insights into IEEE PES and its global contribution towards advancing sustainable and reliable energy systems. The office bearers were formally introduced, with a clear outline of their roles, responsibilities, and vision for the chapter’s future activities. The leadership team also highlighted the importance of active student involvement in IEEE technical events, research initiatives, and professional development opportunities.
The keynote address by Mr. Arunakumara T S offered valuable perspectives on emerging trends in power and energy systems. He elaborated on sustainable energy solutions, smart grid technologies, and the critical role of electrical engineers in driving the transition towards clean energy.
A practical demonstration session further enhanced the learning experience, featuring instruments such as the Power Quality Analyzer, Digital Power Meter, Harmonic Analyzer, Lux Meter, and Thermal Imaging Camera. The interactive session that followed encouraged meaningful discussions on renewable energy integration and innovative technological advancements.
Overall, the inauguration marked a promising beginning for the IEEE PES Student Branch Chapter, laying a strong foundation for impactful technical engagement and professional growth.
