Faculty Development Programme on Mathematical Foundations for AI‑Driven Engineering Applications

The Departments of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Applied Sciences, and the Skill Development Centre organised a five‑day Faculty Development Programme on “Mathematical Foundations for AI‑Driven Engineering Applications” from 29 June to 3 July 2026. The programme aimed to strengthen mathematical concepts essential for Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Data Science.

Sessions bridged theory with engineering applications, highlighting linear algebra, calculus, probability, optimisation, and numerical methods. Eminent resource persons from IIM Bangalore, LTTS, CPRI, and leading academic institutions delivered expert lectures. Faculty members gained exposure to modern AI algorithms and computational techniques. Case studies demonstrated AI applications across Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Computer Science, and allied domains. Emerging topics such as Generative AI, Digital Twins, Explainable AI, and Reinforcement Learning were introduced from a mathematical perspective.

Participants appreciated the relevance of the sessions and the expertise of distinguished speakers. The programme fostered interdisciplinary thinking and collaborative research opportunities. Faculty members reported enhanced confidence in applying mathematical principles to AI‑driven solutions. Practical insights improved their teaching practices and curriculum development. Hands‑on exposure to AI tools strengthened research competency.

The FDP promoted sustainable engineering solutions through advanced mathematical techniques. Networking with industry experts enriched professional knowledge and perspectives. Overall, the programme was academically enriching, professionally rewarding, and successfully achieved its objectives of building strong mathematical foundations for AI‑driven engineering education and research.
