Cleanliness Drive - Jakkur Lake

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, in association with the IEEE Student Branch, IEEE TEC, and the Green Energy Club, organised a Cleanliness Drive at Jakkur Lake on 30th September 2025 as part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan initiative. Student volunteers actively participated in cleaning the lake surroundings and promoting environmental conservation.

The participants collected plastic waste and other non-biodegradable materials to improve the cleanliness of the area. The drive also created awareness about sustainable waste management practices and the importance of maintaining public spaces. The initiative served as a practical learning experience that emphasised individual and collective responsibility towards environmental protection.

Students gained valuable exposure to community service while contributing to public welfare and ecological preservation. The event highlighted the adverse effects of littering and plastic pollution on water bodies and ecosystems. It reinforced the need for sustainable habits such as waste segregation, recycling, and responsible waste disposal.

The collaborative efforts of students and faculty showcased the significance of teamwork, leadership, and civic responsibility. The cleanliness drive successfully enhanced the environmental quality of Jakkur Lake and strengthened participants’ commitment to sustainability, demonstrating that collective action can create a cleaner and healthier future.
