Expert talk on Smart Prototyping for IoT and Embedded Systems Using Z Boards
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at New Horizon College of Engineering, Bengaluru, organized a guest lecture titled “Energy Saving Auditing for a Sustainable Future Environment” on 23rd April 2026 for 6th semester students. The session was delivered by Mr. Arunakumara T S, MD & CEO of SEESCON, Bengaluru, and was held at the Library Video Conference Hall from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM.
The lecture was organized with the aim of building awareness among students about energy conservation, efficient resource utilization, and sustainable development. Mr. Arunakumara began by introducing the fundamentals of energy auditing — covering its definition, types (preliminary and detailed), and its broader significance across industries and institutions. He went on to explain practical energy conservation techniques, including efficient lighting systems, energy-efficient motors, and smart energy management strategies, supported by real-world industrial case studies.
A significant portion of the session focused on hands-on applications. The speaker demonstrated the use of various instruments such as clamp meters, airflow meters, anemometers, temperature sensors, thermal imagers, and power quality analyzers. He also discussed the role of power factor in energy efficiency and its relationship to manufacturer specifications. Topics such as renewable energy integration, HVAC optimization, smart buildings, electric vehicles, and government energy efficiency programs were also covered.
By the end of the session, students came away with a well-rounded understanding of energy auditing principles, practical conservation methods, and the environmental responsibility that comes with an engineering career. The lecture successfully motivated participants to think critically about energy usage and to carry these sustainable practices into both their academic and professional futures.
