We feel proud to have the IEEE Power Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation Society (IEEE DEIS), which is one of the fastest progressing and promising technical societies of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering of New Horizon College of Engineering, Bengaluru initiated and actively started IEEE DEIS NHCE Student Branch Chapter on 15.01.2025.

 

Objectives:

IEEE Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation Society (DEIS) is the leading provider of the latest technological developments in the power and energy industry, the formation of key industry standards, and the continuing education of society members, industry, and the general public. The Society continually updates its program of technical activities to meet the needs of modern industry.

 

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering received Petition Approval Letter from IEEE Member and Geographic Activities USA to start the IEEE Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation Society NHCE Student Branch Chapter on 15th January 2025. The effective date of this Student Branch Chapter formation is January 15, 2025 and Geo Code is SBC66131F. Currently 18 IEEE DEIS Members are active in this chapter of Electrical & Electronics Engineering Department.

 

IEEE DEIS society at New Horizon College of Engineering is dedicated to promoting the world’s largest forum for sharing the latest in technological developments in the electric power industry, for developing standards that guide the development and construction of equipment and systems, and for educating members of the industry and the general public. Members of the Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation Society are leaders in this field, and they — and their employers — derive substantial benefits from involvement with this unique and outstanding association.

Being a very new society under NHCE – IEEE chapter, Department envisages the following activities as immediate goals: 

 

  • Initiate Industrial lecture talks
  • Invite Professors of excellence for sharing experiences and research results
  • Industrial tours to companies in close vicinity
  • Brainstorming session on “Entrepreneurship and Academia”.
  • Workshop, Symposium, Project Design Contest to the students
  • Promotes the engineering process of creating, developing, integrating, sharing, and applying knowledge about electro- and information technologies and sciences for the benefit of humanity and the profession
