National Workshop on Specific Orientation cum Q&A Session ON Patent Drafting and Filing procedures

In today’s globally competitive environment, intellectual property has placed itself on a pedestal and is becoming increasingly important. When an individual has an idea that they want to protect from being used by others without their permission, it is best to seek legal protection of that intellectual property. By seeking property rights over your intellectual property, a property is a creation of the mind, such as an invention, symbol, or even a name. You establish rightful ownership and prevent the unlawful use of your property. What’s more, establishing intellectual property rights can help to stimulate further innovation. This is a good thing but are we doing it right? To focus on the awareness regarding Intellectual property rights a seminar was organized by the IEEE IES NHCE SBC in association with NHCE IIC and IEEE IES Bangalore Chapter on 11.03.2023.  The Speaker was Dr. V AGALYA, Professor and Associate Head R&D, NHCE  The session was hosted by Harshitha of the 6th Semester and started with a Welcome Note to our speaker, to all the students of the 4th and 6th semesters students, and to the faculty of the electrical and electronics department. The seminar was preceded by a short talk by the HOD of the electrical and electronics department. In his talk, he emphasized the importance of intellectual property and how to go about enhancing it. After which DR. V AGALYA took the stage and started with the lecture, she made it so easy to understand the lecture to the target audience by making it an interactive session with the audience everyone was so actively interested in the program.  She introduced the basics by highlighting the importance of Intellectual Property rights (IPR) among participants with special reference to patenting. Made it understand the audience by assigning the tasks. She then provided a vast knowledge about patent-related terminologies and an understanding of The patentability of an invention fulfilling criteria. learning from scratch about patent drafting, formulation of claims, Filing of Patent Application or Priority Application, Publication of Application, Opposition of Patent, Request for Examination and Grant of Patent. The seminar moved on to creating awareness about what can be patented and what cannot be patented. The audience was introduced to patent filing offices in India.  After delivering her lecture she encouraged students to shoot questions-.the audience witnessed a lot of questions being shoot to DR . V AGALYA and she was happy to answer them all.  It was a very informative and interactive session where students came to know about the rightful ownership and preventing the unlawful use of your property.  The event ended with an honorarium to the Speaker and a vote of thanks.  Feedback was taken in order to analyze the effectiveness of this seminar. It was found that the seminar was an excellent event and found the information imparted to them relevant. None of the students expressed their dissatisfaction with the event.
