ALUMNI TALK 2025-2026

Alumni talk - Chips, Circuits and Careers: Exploring the VLSI Industry

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering organised an alumni talk titled “Chips, Circuits and Careers: Exploring the VLSI Industry” on 30th March 2026 as part of the Final Year Readiness Talk Series. The session was delivered by Mr. Srinivas Abhinav Gandla, VLSI Analyst at Capgemini Engineering and NHCE alumnus. He introduced students to the global semiconductor landscape and emphasised the growing significance of VLSI in modern technologies.

The talk highlighted applications of integrated circuits across smartphones, AI hardware, automotive systems, embedded devices, and communication networks. Mr. Srinivas elaborated on the VLSI design flow, covering RTL design, verification, physical design, STA, and DFT. He outlined key industry roles, including design engineer, verification engineer, physical design engineer, FPGA engineer, and analog/mixed-signal designer.

The speaker stressed the importance of strong fundamentals in digital electronics, CMOS design, semiconductor physics, and computer architecture. He encouraged students to gain proficiency in Verilog, SystemVerilog, VHDL, scripting languages, and essential EDA tools. Practical guidance was provided on resume building, interview preparation, internships, and project portfolios.

Emerging opportunities in AI accelerators, automotive electronics, IoT chip design, edge hardware, and India’s semiconductor initiatives were also highlighted. During the interactive Q&A, students clarified doubts regarding career pathways, certifications, tools, and internships. The session concluded with students gaining clear direction, enhanced industry awareness, and renewed motivation to pursue careers in the VLSI and semiconductor domain.
