Expert talk on Smart Prototyping for IoT and Embedded Systems Using Z Boards
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering organized an expert talk on “Smart Prototyping for IoT and Embedded Systems Using Z Boards” on 15th April 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, in association with the IEEE Dielectrics & Electrical Insulation Society. The session was delivered by Dr. M. M. Sravani, Staff Engineer, Synopsys India Pvt. Ltd., with the objective of providing industry exposure and practical insights into modern embedded and VLSI technologies. The expert introduced smart prototyping concepts using Zynq-based boards, emphasizing the integration of Processing System (PS) and Programmable Logic (PL). Various implementation platforms such as FPGA, PYNQ boards, and ZED boards were discussed, highlighting their architecture, features, and real-time applications in IoT and embedded systems.
The session included a detailed overview of FPGA technology, focusing on its parallel processing capability and flexibility over traditional microcontrollers. Demonstrations on PYNQ boards illustrated the use of Python for hardware programming, enabling faster and more accessible development. Insights into the VLSI design flow, including synthesis, simulation, and physical design stages, were presented with industry relevance. Career opportunities in Embedded Systems, FPGA design, and VLSI domains were also discussed, along with necessary skills and tools. The interactive session concluded with active student participation, clarifying technical concepts and career-related queries.
