CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Industrial Visit – Vijay Electric, Bengaluru

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering organised an industrial visit to Vijay Electric, Bengaluru, on 01 December 2025, in association with the IEEE NHCE Student Branch and IEEE TEC Student Branch Chapter. The visit aimed to provide second-year EEE students with practical exposure to electrical power systems, transformers, switchgear equipment, and industrial installations.

Vijay Electric is a reputed organisation engaged in the manufacturing, servicing, and maintenance of electrical equipment, including transformers and power distribution systems. The company plays a vital role in supporting power infrastructure while adhering to safety, reliability, and efficiency standards.

The programme began with an introductory session, where industry experts explained the company profile, product range, and operational workflow. Students were then taken on a guided tour of the transformer assembly and inspection areas. They observed electrical testing and quality assurance sections that ensure equipment reliability.

The tour also covered power distribution and protection systems essential for industrial operations. Safety procedures and maintenance practices were demonstrated to highlight industry standards. Experts provided detailed explanations on transformer construction, cooling methods, insulation systems, and testing procedures.

Students learned about preventive maintenance, fault identification, and safety measures followed in electrical industries. The visit enabled them to understand practical aspects of transformer operation and testing, correlating theoretical concepts with real-time industrial applications.

The exposure also enhanced awareness of career opportunities in the electrical power sector. Overall, the visit improved students’ technical knowledge, practical understanding, and motivation towards electrical engineering.
