Expert talk on Fundamentals of VLSI Design
Organized by: Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, New Horizon College of Engineering, Bengaluru
Date: 14th October, 2025
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, in collaboration with IEEE NHCE Student Branch and associated IEEE chapters, hosted an expert talk on “Fundamentals of VLSI Design” at Tejas Seminar Hall for 5th semester students. The session was delivered by Mr. Rameez Khan, Post Silicon Validation Engineer at Synopsys, Bangalore.
Mr. Khan introduced the Silicon Development Life Cycle with a creative analogy to movie production, simplifying the stages from design to fabrication. He explained the Pre-Silicon phase, focusing on RTL design and verification using Verilog, and demonstrated an I²C module design. The Post-Silicon phase covered device wake-up, debugging, and PVT characterization, highlighting the role of automation in testing and compliance.
The session concluded with an engaging Q&A, where students explored VLSI career paths and industry practices. Attendees appreciated the clarity and practical relevance of the talk.
