Workshop on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and Significance of Technology Transfer

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering organized a one-day workshop on “Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and Significance of Technology Transfer” on 22nd November 2025. The event was conducted in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), the National Intellectual Property Awareness Mission (NIPAM), and the IEEE Dielectrics & Electrical Insulation Society.
The workshop was facilitated by Mr. J. E. Moshe Dayan, Assistant Professor, Department of EEE (PSNA) and Coordinator of the PSNA IPR Cell. He is a Government Certified Trainer, Mission NIPAM Member, eTISC–WIPO Contributor, and Innovation Ambassador of IIC.
Mr. Dayan delivered an in-depth and insightful session on the fundamentals and significance of Intellectual Property Rights. He explained key components such as patents, trademarks, copyrights, industrial designs, and trade secrets, using practical engineering-oriented examples for better understanding.
The session also focused on the technology transfer process, emphasizing how innovations can be effectively converted into market-ready products. Important topics covered included:
Invention disclosure
Prior art search
Essentials of patent drafting
Filing procedures in India and internationally
Patentability criteria
Licensing and commercialization strategies
The workshop was highly interactive, with active participation from attendees on topics related to innovation protection, research commercialization, and intellectual property management.
A total of 60 participants attended the workshop. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the effectiveness of the session in promoting IPR awareness and encouraging innovation among students and faculty members.
